Use of AI tools

Prosperitas observes and adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics’ (COPE) position statement on the use of AI for publication purposes. Irrespective of any AI tool used, authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts including parts produced by an AI tool, and are thus liable for any breach of publication ethics should such occur, for any reason, in their works.

In line with this, authors using AI tools in the writing of their manuscripts, for the production of images or graphical elements of their papers, or for the collection and analysis of data presented in their papers shall be transparent about this by disclosing referent details in the Materials and Methods (or similar) section of their papers. Such details shall include which AI tool was used and how. While AI-assisted proofreading to enhance language and readability is permitted (as this aligns with traditional spelling and grammar tools without generating new content), authors remain fully responsible for their manuscript’s integrity, including AI-generated parts.

In order to ensure ethical integrity of published papers, authors are requested to adhere to COPE’s guidelines on the use of AI for publication purposes by stating the following in the author declaration to be signed before their work gets published: “The author(s) state(s) that they have observed the Committee on Publication Ethics’ (COPE) position statement relating to the use of AI (https://publicationethics.org/cope-position-statements/ai-author) when producing the Work, and that they have been transparent about disclosing in the main text of the Work which AI tool they used and how.”
