Prosperitas is the open-access journal of Budapest University of Economics and Business. It welcomes papers worldwide on business, management, accounting, economics and finance addressing current business challenges.

The journal is indexed in Scopus and numerous other databases.

Before submitting your paper, please read the following information carefully.

Ethical submission

Prosperitas is committed to observing and maintaining a publication process in line with commonly accepted science ethical standards. To this end, the Journal applies the principles established by the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE), and authors are likewise requested to observe the same guidelines. For further information, please consult the COPE website: https://publicationethics.org/getting-started and see also https://prosperitas.uni-bge.hu/ethical-publication-behaviour-and-principles/ . Thus:

• All submissions must not have been published earlier, either in full or in part, either in English or in any other language.
• Submissions should not concurrently be submitted to any other journal for review either in full or in part.
• AI usage must be fully disclosed in the submission, in the relevant section.

All papers submitted to Prosperitas are subject to an initial screening in four phases.

1. Fitting the Journal’s aim and scope and that the paper has sufficient novelty and contribution to the field. Author(s) with submissions outside of the journal scope will be informed that their submission will not be sent for review.
2. A plagiarism check. In cases where plagiarism is detected, we follow the procedure suggested by COPE (see https://publicationethics.org/guidance/flowchart/plagiarism-submitted-manuscript ).
3. A linguistical check. Authors must ensure that papers are clear, concise, not repetitive and linguistically correct. Papers whose English is considered to fall below the standard expected by the Journal are returned to their authors for linguistic improvement, after which the Journal gladly receives the improved papers.
4. AI usage check. All references must include the DOI identifier, wherever possible. If submissions contain hallucinated references (or other signs of undisclosed AI usage), we follow the procedure suggested by COPE, in that we will take up the issue with the author(s) for a response and then decide what action should be taken. Undisclosed AI usage is contrary to our AI policy and considered an ethical breach. See also: https://prosperitas.uni-bge.hu/2209-2/

Confidentiality

Prosperitas applies a double-blind peer review process. The Journal’s reviewers undertake to confidentially manage the submitted manuscripts, any parts thereof as well as the data and any information related to the authors and their works. As such, authors must ensure that submissions do not contain any information that will enable reviewers to identify the authors, either in the text, or the filename, or elsewhere. Authors will, in turn, receive at least 2 review reports which will also be anonymous, and we ask reviewers to also ensure they do not include any personal information that may identify them in their reviews.

Authorship

Authors should finalise the author list and order before submitting their manuscript. After submission, any addition, removal or reordering of authors requires a formal request from the corresponding author and approval by the Editor-in-Chief. The request must include a detailed explanation of the proposed change, written agreement from all authors, including those being added or removed, and an updated Author Contributions statement specifying each author’s contribution using the CRediT (Or https://credit.niso.org/) taxonomy. Changes may only be implemented once approval has been granted.

Submission content

Prosperitas publishes the following 5 types of studies while observing the below requirements concerning the length of submitted works:

• Research Paper: a study detailing the author’s own empirical findings, expected length: between 7,000 and 8,000 words*.
• Conceptual Paper: typically consisting of a literature review and analysis, this study focuses on theoretical model development, expected length: between 6,000 and 9,000 words.
• Viewpoint: a position paper about a current topic of scientific interest presenting novel ideas and opinions, expected length: between 2,000 and 3,000 words.
• Book Review: a review article of a book published maximum 2 years earlier focusing on topics of interest to Prosperitas, expected length: 1,500 words.
• Editorial: a guest editorial specifically invited by Prosperitas, with no length constraints.

Please note: all tables and figures – irrespective of their contents and real lengths – are considered 200 words per piece, and appendices do not count towards the length of studies. Authors whose submissions fall behind or exceed the above expected length constraints by 20% are required to consult with the Editor-in-Chief in advance.

Content of submissions (may vary depending on type of paper and research approach):

• The introduction should include the central research question(s) or statement of the problem that the study is addressing. The rationale and the goals for the research, e.g. importance / relevance of topic, research gap, such as innovative methods or approaches, conflicting existing findings, etc.
• The literature review should include key writings in the field, as well as the latest findings. The theoretical framework upon which the study is based (if applicable)
• The methodology should cover the following sections: Research Approach & Design; Population & Sampling Strategy; Data Collection Methods & Instruments; Data Analysis Procedures; Validity, Reliability, And Trustworthiness; Ethical Considerations; and Limitations and Delimitations.
• The results section should include the demographics of the sample and key findings but be limited to 6-7 tables and figures in total. For tables, charts and figures, please insert them in the appropriate places in your study and upload these items in editable formats as separate files.
• Key implications of the study (theoretical and practical) should not be generic but related directly to the findings of the study.
• The conclusions section should consider the study as a whole and have a part that considers limitations and proposed future research directions.
• References must be APA style 7^th edition and include a DOI identifier wherever applicable. Authors should ensure that in-text citations match the list of references at the end of the paper and that they have verified all references as accurate and correct.

Abstract

The abstract is the first part of your paper that the audience will read. It should be concise and a maximum of 200 words. The aim is to give your audience an overview of your paper, highlighting key points. As such, in the abstract authors should clearly describe in a sentence or two those areas shown in the previous section (content of submissions).

Note: The amount of space you dedicate to the above sections in your abstract will vary, depending on the type of study you have employed. If you are unsure of how to proceed, we recommend The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (https://apastyle.apa.org/products/publication-manual-7th-edition ), as it gives specific guidelines for what to include in the abstract for different kinds of papers—for empirical studies, literature reviews, theoretical papers, methodological papers and case studies.

Plain language summary

Authors are required to submit a plain language summary as part of their submission. It should explain the research in clear, everyday language, making it accessible to business practitioners, academics, students and the general public. Summaries are published on the Prosperitas website in English to increase the accessibility and visibility of the research.

Your summary should address three questions:

• What is the research about? Introduce the topic in two or three sentences.
• Why is it important? Explain its relevance and why readers should care.
• What are the key takeaways? Highlight the main findings and their implications.

Writing tips:

• Use short, concise sentences and familiar words.
• Write in the active voice.
• Avoid technical jargon, acronyms and metaphors.
• Include only essential statistics and numbers.

We strongly recommend asking someone without a scientific background to review your summary for clarity.

Submission format

The Journal does not make available to its authors a pre-formatted template or a separate guide to be used for producing submissions but insists that authors should use Times New Roman font size 12 characters and double line spacing for producing the text of their manuscripts.

Please make sure to submit your appropriately edited and formatted manuscript in MS Word (.doc or .docx file) format.

Charges

Prosperitas is a Diamond Open Access Journal and does not charge its authors or readers any fee whatsoever including, among others, article processing charges or submission fees. All published studies are accessible free of charge.

Consent

Authors are kindly informed that studies approved for publication in line with the review process will be published in Prosperitas only if all authors of such studies consent to the publication of the given paper as attested by the appropriately filled-in Copyright Agreement signed by all authors and forwarded to the Journal as instructed by the Editorial Board.

Disclosures

For all submissions, Prosperitas is requiring authors to be fully transparent in their research. As such, after the conclusions section, but before the references, the following themes should be addressed (examples have been provided for further direction):

• Acknowledgments: For example, “We are grateful to the managers and employees of the manufacturing firms for their cooperation and support”.
• Funding: Example: This research received no external funding.
• Author Contributions Statement (CRediT): Example: Conceptualization: A.B., C.D.; Methodology: A.B.; Formal Analysis and Investigation: C.D., E.F.; Writing – Original Draft Preparation: A.B.; Writing – Review & Editing: C.D., E.F.; Funding Acquisition: A.B.
• Conflicts of Interest: Example: The authors declare no conflict of interest.
• Data Availability Statement (DAS): Example: The data supporting the findings of this study are openly available in [Repository Name] at [DOI/URL link] / The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
• Declaration of Generative AI Use: Example: During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL, e.g., ChatGPT] in order to [DESCRIBE PURPOSE, e.g., assist with outlining and improving the clarity of the text]. After using this tool, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
