Budapest University of Economics and Business’ journal Prosperitas is inviting papers for its special issue entitled ‘Ageing well in an ageing society: sustainable issues.’
This call for papers stems from the demographic megatrends reshaping our society. The primary challenge is determining the micro- and macro-demographic causes of ageing through a data science approach to decision-making. Enhancing our knowledge of the biology of ageing, the life course trajectories of active and healthy ageing, and the sustainable urban contexts where the elderly live are essential thematic challenges to address and confront population ageing and to act accordingly. These issues are linked to both the political and cultural aspects of an ageing society as well as the Silver Economy, which pertains to work, participation, and welfare at older ages as well as new patterns of consumption and activity.
Currently, three additional cross-integration tasks are used to methodically integrate the thematic difficulties: technology advancements to address the “new” demands of the elderly, the significance of technologies to improve the burden of age-related well-being, and the general mainstreaming and rethinking of ageing-related policy-making.
We welcome theoretical and empirical contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
1) Intergenerational relations and equity effects
2) Population ageing, needs and services provision
3) Accessibility and sustainability
4) Spatial planning
5) Financial instruments to support the elderly population
6) Public policies in favour of the elderly and Agenda 2030
7) PPP and Interventions in terms of both public and private services and infrastructures
8) The distributive effects of infrastructures in favour of the elderly population and distributive effects
9) Silver Economy and new technologies
10) Data science and decision-making for the elderly
For this special issue, we invite papers that present evidence-based findings or case studies demonstrating best-practice solutions to challenges posed by an ageing population. The special issue will publish original research papers, literature reviews, intervention hypotheses, case studies and policy briefs.
